Since I tend to think differently then others I often find myself comparing things in an effort to get them to realize what I am saying and how I am looking at a situation.

Which basically means who cares if you're put 1st or 2nd or dead last, as long as you're there isn't that enough? So you're at the party and you're not the guest of honor, but hey, you made the list and are there.
