Shiney Happy People
People often speculate that everything bad happens for a reason so that we can learn something from it. Where are those people, I'd like to kick them in the face to see what they learn from that.
Well, aside from learning not to talk positively in front of the insanely cynical.
Hmmm, interesting. Touche happy people.
Okay I do somewhat believe in what they say. However, do you ever notice that they're never saying that when something bad is happening to them? How do people muster up the strength to feel positive in their darkest hours? Is it an inborn trait, or something that can be learned, instinct, or practice?
For me I usually use some form of media for inspiration. I'll pop in a DVD that gives me energy, or listen to a song that has been proven to lighten my mood. While they're not necessarily sure-fire, they work. Which is all that really matters.
Switchfoot "Dare You To Move"
Welcome to the planet
Welcome to existence
Everyone's here
Everyone's here
Everybody's watching you now
Everybody waits for you now
What happens next?
What happens next?
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened before
Welcome to the fallout
Welcome to resistance
The tension is here
The tension is here
Between who you are and who you could be
Between how it is and how it should be
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Maybe redemption has stories to tell
Maybe forgiveness is right where you fell
Where can you run to escape from yourself?
Where you gonna go?
Where you gonna go?
Salvation is here
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
I dare you to lift yourself Lift yourself up off the floor
I dare you to move
I dare you to move
Like today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened
Today never happened before

Unfortunatly I think that being a "Shiney Happy Person" comes from something inside you. I am a "Shiney Happy Person" - the Eternial Optimist that always looks on the bright side of things. I dont know where this come from, parents, astrological sign, or personality. But I guess when bad things happen I do tend to take it camly because what good is it going to do if I get upset about it - it is already done, my anger is not going to change anything. That isn't saying I don't get mad or upset. I was very upset when Larry left me, but there was nothing I could do about it. Two months later I stoped crying. When I totalled my car (twice) I didn't cry. More of the "Oh shit" mentality I guess. Can't stop it, can't fix it, I am not dead, and I can always buy a new car. No use in getting upset when someone hits you cause getting mad isn't going to put your car back together.
Now my mother is a pesimist. Everything always has a catch to it, she is always waiting for something bad to happen. How this attitude may have come from her upbringing, or her astrological sign, but seeing as I am her daughter, I do not think it is genetic.
I of course look for inspiration in music and movies when I do feel blue or need a pick me up. So Benny, just keep living... there are more days ahead and dwelling on the past and what you should have, could have done, is not going to fix the future. What can I do, how can I make it better, will. Maybe that is what she needs to realise also.
